Jessamine County was formed in 1799. Nicholasville is the county seat of Jessamine County and is the 11th largest city in Kentucky. The population of Jessamine was over 48,000 in 2010 with well over half of the residents living in Nicholasville. Jessamine County has the oldest business in Kentucky. The Valley View Ferry has been in operation since 1785 and is still open today, over 200 years later. Jessamine County is also the home of the Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park which pays homage to some of our fallen heroes. Nicholasville maintains the small town life, but with access to a larger city just a few miles away.
Wilmore is another city located in Jessamine County. Wilmore is home to Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary.
