Oldham County & La Grange, Kentucky

Oldham County is the most affluent county in Kentucky and the 48th most affluent in the United States. Oldham County also ranks 2nd highest in Kentucky for the most college educated residents. The county was established in 1823. Like most of Kentucky, it started out more rural and has since become more suburban, especially since the 1970’s when an interstate highway connected it to downtown Louisville. The county seat of La Grange was founded in 1827. One thing that La Grange has that most cities do not is a railroad line that runs straight through downtown. In 2010, Oldham County reported 60,000 residents with 8,000 of those residing in La Grange. La Grange also has the lowest unemployment rate and highest per capita income in Kentucky.
